Time with Organisation: -N/A (but advantageous).
Experience (Minimum Experience Required - Number of years): -Applicant must have a minimum of 1 year culinary experience. Strong knowledge of stock takes, food costing and budgets. Working knowledge of various computer software programmes.
Overall Purpose of the Job: -Under the general guidance of the Executive Chef, directs and organises the activities of the food production department which includes a variety of responsibilities such as establishing and maintaining the required culinary standards; insuring the proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment as well as employee hygiene and safety. Ensures that standards of food quality and presentation are met at all times, whilst reducing wastage and controlling costs, and control supervise the kitchen team area assigned to him. To assist the Executive Chef in the day to day running of the kitchen. To deputise in the Executive Chef's absence. To ensure that a courteous and efficient service is provided to the guest in line with the Company’s vision, values and fundamentals.
People: -All subordinate kitchen staff.
Finance: -The job requires the handling of money and the authorisation to dispense and deposit company funds and is therefore subject to a fraud and credit check.
Occassional Duties: -May be called upon to perform duties other than the above.
Education (Formal Qualification Required): -Grade 12/Equivalent. Culinary Diploma/equivalent or ARPL/Trade Test from a reputable institution. Computer literacy is essential particularly with a proficiency in Microsoft Office.
