Requirements:
|
1. Purpose of Role
-The Safety Officer Engineering (UG) is a legal appointment in terms of regulations 2.17.4 of the Minerals Act. The role for the development, implementation and management of safety and risk control programmes, as well as ensuring legal compliance and provision of a safety advisory and reporting service to the operational unit or area.
2. Work of Role
-Stop work if unsafe
-Facilitate accident investigations
-Carry out statutory inspections
-Compile safety reports
-Check compliance to safety systems
-Check corrective action status
3. Qualifications
-SAMTRAC
-Diploma in Safety Management
-COMSOC I & II
-Degree in Safety Management - Advantageous
-Auditor’s courses for Safety and Risk Control management - Advantageous
-Risk Assessment Techniques: (SWIFT, HAZOP and FMECA) - Advantageous
-Trade Certificate
4. Experience
-Minimum of 3 years relevant Mining / Process / Engineering/ Training experience
5. Knowledge and Skills
-Accident investigation (ICAT)
-Behaviour Based Safety
-Fire (Basic fire – FPA)
-Computer literacy (MS Office)
-Communication– verbally / written
-Observation
-First Aid
-Planning
