Requirements:
|
1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- The Section Geologist is responsible for providing a specialist geological service to the mine in respect of mining the ore body on a shaft/open pit.
2. WORK OF ROLE
- Achieving optimum grade
- Advise on ore deposits and related risks for effective mine planning
- Compiling and designing reports / plans appropriate to the geology function
- Compiling geological standards for the shaft/open pit
- Establishing and maintaining geological standards
- Implementing effective controls and procedures
- Investigating reasons for grade variation
- Maintaining and developing geological standards
- Managing geology drilling programme
- Performing geostatistical analyses on an ore block
- Planning monthly geology requirements and priorities within
- Review and advise on the maximum exploitation of the ore body
- Supervising underground geology drilling programme
3. QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12
- BSc. Hons in Geology
4. EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 year’s post qualification experience in mining geology
- Minimum of 2 year’s post qualification experience in underground mining geology
- Post qualification experience in bushveld and platinum geology - Advantageous
- Evaluation experience - Advantageous
5. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Valid driver’s license
- Sound knowledge pertaining to geology and mining
- Sound knowledge pertaining to applicable legislation (legal, health and safety)
- Sound knowledge pertaining to occupational hygiene principles
- Computer literate: MS Office and discipline specific software (Databases and 3D Modelling packages)
