Requirements:

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- The Engineering Manager is appointed in terms of the MHSA as a 7.2 position, responsible for providing a dedicated focus on maintaining and improving engineering standards and procedures to the mine, in order to reduce operational and business risks and protect the capital assets of the company. He must also support large capital projects in the operation to successful implementation. The role provides technical, consultancy and advisory support to the General Manager, Production Managers, and all engineering disciplines.
2. WORK OF ROLE
- Contributes to the development of the strategic mine plans and strategy
- Develops, implements and monitors engineering maintenance, risk and operational strategies and plans. Provides and oversees engineering services, infrastructure (roads, power, water) and equipment availability are adequate and maintained to meet operational goals
- Ensures compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with relevant stakeholders
- Leads and manages resources to deliver production targets and projects as required
- Manages implements and contributes to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects for engineering processes
- Provides visible felt leadership in safety, sustainable development and Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine values
3. QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12
- Degree or National Diploma in Engineering
- Government Certificate of Competency
4. EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 15 years post engineering qualification experience with 7 years in mining
5. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Experience in Delta Planned Maintenance
- Proven ability in large capex project management
- Proven ability in minimising operational and business risk
- Proven ability in protecting and managing capital assets
- Strategic Vision 2-5 years
