Requirements:
|
1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- Main role of the Control Room Operator is the effective operation of the shaft control room during a shift. The Control Room Operator is a shift role responsible for the effective operation and control shaft conditions by monitoring the control systems and to ensure all variables remain within the prescribed limits during a shift.
2. WORK OF ROLE
- Coordinating Control Room operations
- Effective belt utilisation
- Effective control of shaft systems including underground and surface conveying systems
- Effective execution of control room operations
- Effective monitoring, control & reporting of the shaft operation, conveyor systems and any incidents, where applicable, during a shift.
- Effective response to indicated problems & call-out procedures
- Effective utilization of man & rock winder systems
- Effective utilization of underground pumping systems
- Emergency point of contact for underground emergencies
- Liaison with central services as communication point regarding surface ore tramming
- Minimize quantity of delays or disruptions to shaft operation due to control room ineffectiveness
- Provide timely and accurate information
- Reports completed to required standard & time frame requirements
3. QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12
- Control Room Operator Certificate of Competency
4. EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working on a shaft
5. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Passed control room operator specific training module
- Role specific computer skills
- Sound understanding of underground mining operations
