Requirements:

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- The Senior Instrumentation Technician is responsible for providing dedicated technical and operational systems support to the process division. The role requires a high degree of competence in instrumentation used in highly automated plants. The role is further responsible to ensure that all systems are maintained and optimised to ensure that the capacity to the production process is maximised.
2. WORK OF ROLE
- Adherence to Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine standards
- Adherence to the Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine Change Procedure
- Analyse and identify problems on the current control solution
- Assist with commissioning for on-site projects
- Audit high risk and safety critical areas
- Best practice for instrumentation developed within relevant legal and safety frameworks
- Calibration and maintenance of all equipment within the control solution
- Changes in the control solution or strategy as a result of standardisation
- Changes in the control solution or strategy based on risk identified
- Continuous improvement of the control solutions within the incumbent’s area of responsibility
- Identify areas of poor availability
- Identify high risk and safety critical areas
- Management of the equipment within the process control domain according to the prescribed key performance indicators from the process control department
- Modifications to the control solution for process problems
- Stable control systems platform for all control solutions within the incumbent’s area of responsibility
- Support on existing instrumentation, networks and hardware
- System trouble shooting and hardware problems resolution
3. QUALIFICATIONS
- National N6 Diploma and Instrumentation Trade Certificate or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Process Instrumentation) (T3/S4)
- Registered as a Professional Engineering Technician with ECSA - Advantageous
4. EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience as a Technician or Senior Instrument Mechanician
- Minimum f 1 year’s relevant management experience
- Project Management experience
5. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Advanced computer literacy
- English literate
- Good decision-making skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Good management skills
- Advanced PLC knowledge
- Advanced SCADA knowledge
- Advanced automation networking knowledge
- Advanced historian and reporting
