Requirements:
The Head of Production leads the end-to-end manufacturing function to ensure efficient production, high quality output and cost-effective operations in line with the business goals. The Head of Production will be responsible for driving efficiencies, improving productivity, driving world class manufacturing and compliance and fostering a continuous improvement mindset amongst all employees in the department.
Bachelor’s degree in science, Operations or Industrial Engineering.
Advanced Technical Degree or MBA
Knowledge of supply chain financial measurements of Operations, Capital Management experience
Extensive experience using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), ERP and other relevant computer software and systems effectively
Operational systems experience using SAP and Shopware
5+ years’ experience in:
•applying Lean and 5S techniques in a Lean manufacturing environment
•production experience in a food, chemical, beverage or related batch and ISO 9001 manufacturing environment
•in cross-functional project or program management
•World Class Manufacturing exposure to both processes and equipment

Production Management:
•Lead and oversee daily, weekly and monthly production activities to meet the demand and delivery schedules
•Implement and monitor production plans, budgets and key performance indicators
•Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, yield and quality

Quality and Compliance:
•Ensure products meet quality and regulatory standards
•Collaborate with Quality Assurance to maintain consistent product quality and minimize rework or waste
•Uphold strict adherence to occupational health and safety, environmental and labour legislation

Process Improvement and Lean Manufacturing:
•Drive and implement the world class manufacturing project.
•Implement Lean, six sigma and or Kaizen methodologies to reduce waste and optimize production flow.
•Analyse production data and identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
•Oversee equipment maintenance and reliability programs

Strategic Planning and Reporting:
•Contribute to the business strategy, capacity planning and capital investment and decisions
•Prepare regular reports on production performance, cost analysis and resource utilization

Productivity, planning & Inventory:
•Meet sales and budgeted monthly volumes
•OTIF to the customer
•Timeous completion, distribution, and management of the production plan
•Managing Production planning to timeously meet business demand requirements within inventory management targets, product allergens, product colour impact and optimize on efficiency constraints.
•Ensuring plant achieve an ATP and MPS% OF > 98%.
•Ensuring and maintaining plant uptime of > 95%
•Improve plant OEE to a world class standard at > 75%

People Management:
•Ensuring all SOP in the factory are reviewed and staff are trained
•Developing a culture that is responsible and accountable
•Driving World Class Manufacturing behaviours
•Ability to manage several different employees within the department and ensure that all areas within Production work as a coherent whole towards the same goal
•Identify training needs and implement with succession plans
•Develop a team that understands modern food manufacturing practices
•Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and high performance
