Requirements:
Purpose of the Role:

Overall development, implementation, and maintenance of robust financial controls through effective compliance, governance, reporting, and analysis.

Minimum Requirements

Chartered Accountant CA (SA) / CIMA Management Accountant
Preference Chartered Accountant CA (SA)
7-10 years’ experience in a relevant financial management position

Advantageous:

CFA / MBA
Over 10 years’ experience in a relevant financial management position

Legal Requirements

A valid driver’s license

Key Knowledge & Skills
Advanced proficiency in:

Report writing and executive level presentations
Strategic, financial, and business acumen
IFRS and the Companies Act
Tax legislation (Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, etc.)
MS Excel and general computer literacy
People management
Written and verbal communication
Financial and reporting systems (experience in at least one)
Engaging and influencing senior management/ExCo

Financial control and compliance management:

Oversee the Company’s financial systems’ compliance, accuracy, relevance, efficiency and integrity
Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Verification, Cashbook, Tax, Fixed assets, Financial and Management Accounting functions
Monitor adherence of the business to financial policies, processes and budgets
Provide sound financial support and insights to enable stakeholders to make critical business decisions
Manage the taxation of the organisation and liaise with the external tax consultants for specialist advice
Manage the cash flow of the Company and ensure it has the appropriate controls
Manage and oversee the External Auditor relationship and ensure the organisation is compliant with accounting standards
Manage the Company's banking and borrowing arrangements to ensure governance compliance
Manage risk and ensure a solid risk framework is in place
Oversee commercial decision-making from Supplier contract analysis, margin analysis, pricing analysis etc.
Perform regular financial analysis, recognise patterns and advise/recommend solutions to increase revenue and reduce costs
Analyse and advise on the financial impact of key departmental strategies on income growth
Perform valuations and business evaluation models for New builds, revamps and relocations
Influence other departments on the prioritisation of strategies and tactics by providing a financial perspective and relevant financial information to assist with the decision-making process
Report operational and financial risk to the SA Exco for analysis and mitigation

People Management:

Provide input and implement Nando’s Finance policy, strategy and frameworks
Develop and report on Key Performance Indicators for the financial control portfolio
Actively manage the performance and potential of the direct team, providing coaching, mentorship and leadership to support problem solving, assess productivity and recommend changes where required
Participate in recruitment, talent management and succession planning activities
Create an engaged and motivated workforce by establishing an environment that fosters collaboration through effective communication, trust, enjoyment, wellbeing, learning and development
Motivate Nandocas to realise recognition and incentive opportunities, and nominate candidates for development and growth opportunities
Manage the IR climate of the finance team, in conjunction with the People Team to mitigate risk and improve employee relations
Deal with grievances and disciplinary issues and ensure their effective implementation and management in close conjunction with the People Team
Lead the department in such a manner as to foster innovation and technological excellence

Business Development and Stakeholder Engagement

Develop and implement plans and strategies for growth within the region
Analyse deviations from business metrics
Understand and interpret business trends (economic, competitive, etc.) and provide financial insight to help the company make the right decisions
Work with inter-department and cross-functional teams, sharing expertise and business insights
Engage with relevant stakeholders to drive corrective or continual actions based on financial positions at a point in time
Coordinate with external financial entities on behalf of the company
Perform a comprehensive financial analysis to support business strategies
Conduct active business modelling for overheads with regards to growth and sales
Scan macro and micro-environments to identify emerging trends that will affect the organisation
Monitor key business indicators and performance in the business to plan and forecast

Reporting and Presentation:

Review and approve day-to-day Capex expenditure
Manage and oversee the financial reporting of the organisation, including periodic financial reporting, some budgeting and forecasting and all statutory financial reporting
Report on the financial state of the Company to multiple leveled stakeholders of the Company
Ensure that legislative statutory reporting requirements are complied with
Present financial results and insights to relevant forums
Present results to non-finance people to understand
