Job Purpose:
To develop, implement and maintain the technical function for Nando’s Local/Global markets under the banner of The Brand Food Team with a strong focus on product and supplier compliance, supplier development performance management, risk management and technical problem solving. Assisting and working together with technical and NPD personnel within Brand Food Team to ensure all technical applications to projects allocated to the Group Food Team are completed and implemented timeously.
Key Performance Areas:
- Schedule audits. Conducts/attends audits/visits and evaluations of identified suppliers - Review audit reports before circulation to suppliers - Handle requests from suppliers for audit concessions. Address supplier audit appeals with relevant internal and external feedback - Oversee audit process - Drive close out of Corrective Action related to non-conformances identified during the audit. Drive supplier continuous improvement. - Monitors suppliers to verify they produce/deliver and maintain product specifications - Implement programs, including risk management that effectively monitor product and supplier performance in a way that results in Nando’s compliance with regulatory and product specifications, relating to food safety, quality, and animal welfare (where applicable) to protect Nando’s consumers and the Nando’s brand - Reports on supplier KPI’s relating to quality and compliance relating to food safety, quality, and animal welfare (where applicable) - Maintains effective working relations with Executive Management, Supply Chain and Operating Management - Compliance and Technical assistance applicable from suppliers to consumers - Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a robust Nando’s supplier development and compliance program - Sets clear standards for Nando’s Suppliers and monitors their performance - Provides technical assistance for all supplier issues - Participates in problem solving relating to technical aspects across the supply chain - Identifies supplier weaknesses, recommends corrective actions, and monitors implementation and maintenance of the Nando’s supplier development and compliance program - Keeping current with standard requirements and legislation changes both locally and, in the markets, Nando’s operates in - Updates, implements, and advises team of any standard and/or legislative changes - Manages and conducts supplier audits and feedback - Maintains applicable documentation - Handles NCR’s and RCA process with close out Trending of audit results, close out of non-conformances, NCR’s etc. - Complaint Handling and Resolution - Develop and review complaints procedure for IP products - Handle IP product complaints with close out timeously - Trends customer complaints and identify food safety risks - Oversees consumer complaints from in country summaries, with specific regard to product complaints. - Participates in investigations, reports and closing out customer complaints within the agreed timeframes - Implements continuous improvement to existing practices and new ways of working - Manage food safety and product quality problems relating to consumer complaints, when required - Traceability validation through mock recalls - Supplier Risk Assessments and control plan development - Supplier audits, tracking non-conformance close out. Trending and tracking supplier performance - Input into audit criteria updates, training of suppliers and auditors on audit criteria and audit protocols - Management review - Lead and support Group Food Projects and initiatives, providing technical input, presenting updates, and aligning stakeholders - Assist with identifying product and system improvement gaps and initiate projects to fulfill and improve shortcomings and omissions - Actively manages work and assists and works with technical colleagues on all technical processing, product developments and projects. - Ensures outputs are delivered against objectives - Interacts with and builds relationships with all manufacturers and suppliers of all food products supplied into Nandos. - Manages the Technical Specialist function on a day-to-day basis - Builds supplier relations with the Brand Food Team - Manages technical data and produces reports (where applicable) to allow trend analysis - Interprets and explains laboratory reports and specifications - Completes all documents required in a timely and accurate manner - Maintains supplier performance documentation, technical specifications, QAS, and formulations. - Report summaries of supplier performance, NCR’s, customer complaints etc. - Assist with the development, improvement and advancement of the Nando’s reporting dashboard
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of implementation and maintenance of quality/Food Safety/ - Animal Welfare management systems - Policy, procedure, and specification writing skills (Advanced - Communication and facilitation skills - Report writing skills - Presentation Skills - Microsoft Office skills - MS Project Skills - Auditing experience

Qualifications:
- BSC in Food Science/Technology or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification
Experience:
- 3 - 5 years’ experience overseeing the implementation of audit and quality management systems - 2 - 3 years’ experience in managing people - 3 - 5 years audit experience
