Head Clinical Department (Medical): Grade 1

  Division for Forensic Medicine, University of Stellenbosch and Tygerberg Forensic Pathology Service, Directorate Forensic Pathology Service. This is a joint appointment with the University of Stellenbosch
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Ability to travel within the District and the Province. Valid driver’s license (Code B/EB) (manual transmission driver’s license). Ability to perform overtime and on call duties.
 
Requirement:
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Specialist in Forensic Pathology.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Forensic Pathology.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Must have strong record of clinical expertise and clinical governance, research and experience of training and teaching at both under and post graduate levels. Management experience within an academic environment. Experience in and a proven record of independent and innovative research and guidance of research. Excellent managerial, inter-personal, leadership, administrative, communication, analytical and problem solving skills. A PhD in Forensic Pathology is advisable.
 
Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Forensic Pathology.
 
Note:
Short-listed candidates may be subjected to a competency assessment, psychometric testing and security clearance prior to appointment. No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. The successful candidate will also be The Head of Division of Forensic Medicine and a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor at the Tygerberg Forensic Pathology Service / Metro East and Stellenbosch University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Strategic leadership and operational management of the Division and Heads of Division across the service platform. Rendering of clinical service in the field of Forensic Pathology across the platform. Effective management of major incidents. Embed good governance and values-driven leadership practices through the establishment of specific targeted governance and quality assurance initiatives across the service platform. Teaching and guidance of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Forensic Medicine. Guiding and participation in the design, execution and publication of research.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 2 161 416- R 2 294 040 per annum A portion of the package can be structured according to the individual's personal needs.
