Experience:
A minimum of 3 years’ appropriate experience after registration as a Pharmacist with the SAPC.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Appropriate Managerial experience in a healthcare environment. Leadership and change management experience competencies. Competent in the design, tools, monitoring and implementation of quality improvement strategies. In-depth knowledge of National and Provincial Health Policies as well as the legislation that govern the practice of Pharmacy within the public healthcare. In-depth knowledge of relevant Finance and Supply Chain instructions applicable to procurement of medicine in the public healthcare. Knowledge and experience of People Management, especially Labor Relations, Performance Management, staff development and disciplinary procedures. Knowledge and experience in JAC/WELLSKY, LOGIS, WINRDM, MEDSAS Ability to work under pressure and maintain a high standard of professionalism. Maintain and schedule after hour services rendered in the Emergency Pharmacy. Willing to work after hours, weekends and public holidays in the Emergency Pharmacy. Exceptional, interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills to manage staff and stakeholder relationship. Good computer literacy (Outlook, MS Word, in depth working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Teams). Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Basic qualification accredited with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) that allows registration with the SAPC as a Pharmacist.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Study the relevant Public Service and departmental prescripts/policies and other documents and ensure that the application thereof is understood and complied to. Supervise and provide quality pharmaceutical care by implementing and monitoring work procedures, policies and guidelines. Monitor and ensure compliance to Good Pharmacy Practice and Ideal Hospital Standards. Ensure the institutional Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee is active. Ensure that pharmaceutical services delivered are of a high-quality and contribute to the strategic objectives of the hospital. Implement and sustain continuous improvement initiatives and systems in the pharmacy. Monitor medicine supply management to ensure the safe and reliable procurement, storage, control and distribution of quality pharmaceuticals within the facility. Provide support to clinicians and co-ordinate the activities of the Inpatient and Outpatient Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Bulk Store. Monitor pharmaceutical expenditure and interpret and analyse expenditure trends and provide recommendation on control measures to the Pharmacy Therapeutics Committee. Ensure compliance to Financial and Supply Chain Management regulations. Perform Human Resource Management tasks within the component. Provide a platform for teaching and training of pharmacy students and development of staff.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Valid (Code B/EB) drivers licence.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 897 936- R 1 042 095 per annum A portion of the package can be structured according to the individual's personal needs.
