Requirements:
Appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Excellent (written and verbal) communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel). Conversant with the requirements of the Machinery and Occupational and Safety Act. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing skills and experience.
 
Experience:
Grade A: No experience required. Grade B: At least 18 years appropriate / recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant trade test certificate. Grade C: At least 34 years appropriate / recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant trade test certificate.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Repairs and maintenance at hospital and Primary Health Care Facilities. Control and supervision of workshop staff. Compile specifications and assist in managing projects. Assist with the procurement of spares and control over tools and material. Personnel evaluation and training of subordinates. Liason with engineering management and private sector to co-ordinate and facilitate completion of ad-hoc projects.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence. Willingness to work irregular hours (eg. overtime, after hours, standby duties and weekends) and attend to emergencies when required.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade A: R 190 653-R 211 596 per annum, Grade B: R 224 574-R 249 246 per annum, Grade C: R 262 176- R 324 708 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
