Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Ability to communicate in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape. Good communication, interpersonal, problem solving, report writing, liaison and facilitation skills. Be able to function independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Basic computer literacy.
 
Minimum educational qualification:
Basic R425 qualification (i.e., diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse and Midwife. A post-basic nursing qualification, with duration of at least 1 year in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment, Treatment and Care accredited with SANC (R48).
 
Registration with a professional council:
Current registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Grade2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in Primary Health Care after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment, Treatment and Care accredited with the SANC.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Provision of continuous, holistic quality integrated comprehensive Primary Health Care services within the department. Effective personnel development and assist with management of sub-ordinates within the Department; Initiate and participate in training, development, and research within the nursing division. Manage financial and administrative duties effectively within the department. Ensure the promotion of Quality Assurance, Infection control & Occupational Health & Safety within the Department. Liaise with relevant stakeholders including institutional committees and community participation. Provide clinical support: professional interaction with members of the Public, other departments and staff (multi-disciplinary team) and involvement in community outreach projects. Promote health education to clients, the public and staff. Collect and timeous submission of accurate statistics. Deliver an effective support service to the Operational Manager and ensure effective coordination of the Department. Maintain ethical standards and promote professional growth and self-development.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Willingness to perform relief duties for Operational Manager.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 388 974 - R 450 939 (PN-B1) per annum, Grade 2: R 478 404 - R 588 390 (PN-B2) per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
