State Accountant: Financial Accounting

Note:
Only officials within the Provincial Government: Western Cape will be considered for this post.
 
Experience:
Appropriate experience in banking related functions. Appropriate Supervisory experience.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Extensive knowledge of Banking procedures which includes knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations and Instructions, source system interfaces, cash flow reconciliations and Donor Funding procedures. Advanced computer literacy (Word and Excel). Extensive knowledge of the Basic Accounting System (BAS) including related Asset and Liability accounts. Supervisory, decision making, analytical thinking as well as good written and verbal communication skills.

Inherent requirement of the job:
Must be willing to work overtime when the need arises.
 
Minimum educational qualification:
Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with Mathematics and/or Accounting as a passed subject and/or Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with experience/competencies that focuses on the Key Performance Areas (KRA’s) of the post.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Verify and authorise the allocation of transactions in the Paymaster General and Banking related Asset and Liability accounts (which includes authorization of journals on BAS) as well as the monthly reporting thereof. Analyse monthly Donor Funding reporting as well as related accounting transactions. Compilation and submission of revenue pay over.Daily and monthly cash flow reconciliations. Monitoring receipting functions as well as petty cash. Supervision and People Management function of the section.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 261 372- R 307 890 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
