Operational Manager Nursing (Specialty: Psychiatry)

Experience:
A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. At least 5 years of the above experience must be in psychiatry after obtaining the 1-year qualification in Advanced Psychiatry Nursing Science.
 
Requirement:
Basic R425 qualification (i.e. degree/diploma in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Advanced Psychiatry Nursing Science in terms of R212.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Computer literacy (Ms Word, Excel and Power Point).
 
Registration with a professional council:
Current Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Provide leadership, supervision, planning, direction and control for the provision of improved patient centred care in a psychiatric ward. Implement an efficient and effective quality improvement programme. Implement an effective and efficient Resource management (human, health technology, financial and facility) plan. Overall Management of the nursing component, including students, ward clerk and household support. Implement an effective and efficient clinical practice in a specialised psychiatric ward. Manage infection control, development and training programmes for nursing and related staff. Provide support to the Deputy Manager Nursing office.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Willingness to work shifts, after hours, public holidays, day or night and standby duties. Valid Drivers’ License. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 588,378-R 662,220 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
