Head Clinical Unit Grade 1 (Medical) (Nuclear Medicine)

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Ability to communicate in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. It will be expected of the successful Head: Clinical Unit to work commuted overtime, limited to 12 hours
 
Minimum educational qualification:
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine.
 
Competencies (Knowledge/Skills)
Experience in Nuclear Medicine imaging and Nuclear Medicine treatment. Comprehensive skills and experience in leadership, administration and management related to Nuclear Medicine. Computer literacy, good communication, analytic and problem-solving skills. Insight into challenges in Health Care in South Africa and Africa, as well as diversity, transformation and equity. Ability to function well in a team environment, with good inter-personal skills. Skills and experience in supervision of junior staff in Nuclear Medicine.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Offer comprehensive, quality Nuclear Medicine service to patients and clinicians. Optimally supervise, instruct and train junior personnel, including registrars. Participate in academic activities at undergraduate and postgraduate level as required, including outside the division. Participate in continuing medical education, as required by the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Participate in research and supervision of MMed dissertations. Attend departmental executive committee meetings. Be available to take on HoD position on a rotational basis when called upon to do so. Be available to act as Head of department (HOD). Effectively lead and manage administrative functions of the division including cross-cover at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. Plan and implement new techniques and protocols in Nuclear Medicine.

Remuneration:
R1 887 363 - R2 001 927 per annum A portion of the package can be structured according to the individual's personal needs.
