Social Work Supervisor: Grade 1

Experience:
A minimum of 7 years appropriate experience in Social Work after registration as a Social worker with SACSSP. Appropriate supervisory experience in a Health environment.
 
Requirements Minimum educational qualification:
Degree or Diploma or equivalent qualification in Social Work that allows registration with the South African Council For Social Services Professions (SACSSP).

Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the SACSSP as a Social worker.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation- and conflict-resolution skills and ability to ensure that supervisees provide a comprehensive social work service within a hospital setting. Competency in Public Sector People Management, including Supervisory and Managerial skills in Health-related setting, Recruitment & Selection, Performance Management, and Labour relations. Competency in information management (data management, analysis, interpretation, target setting, monitoring and evaluation) with the appropriate computer literacy skills. Knowledge and understanding of illness and disease, human behavior and social systems.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Supervise and advise social workers, social auxiliary workers and volunteers to ensure an effective social work service, this would inter alia entail the following: Keep up to date with new developments in the social work field. Supervise all the administrative functions required in the unit and undertake the higher-level administrative functions. Comprehensive and Operational Management of Social work services and within a hospital environment. Asset management within resources and according to the prescripts of Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness. Information Management to promote service delivery policy development and implementation at Karl Bremer Hospital. Liaison with internal (DOH) and community stakeholders to improve continuity of care. Liaison with external stakeholders in respect with training, research and innovation in the field.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Valid driver’s licence.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 432 348 per annum - R 500 715 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
