Occupational Therapist Grade 1 to 3

Requirements: Minimum educational qualification:
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Occupational Therapist.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to work in integrated multi-disciplinary teams across platforms. Computer literacy in MS Office mandatory.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as Occupational Therapist. One (1) year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: “Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist in respect of RSA qualified employees. A minimum of 11 years' relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign employees, of whom it is not required to perform community service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist in respect of RSA qualified employees. A minimum of 21 years' relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign employees, of whom it is not required to perform community service, as required in South Africa.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Individual patient assessments and treatment of patients. Assess, prescribe, order and fitting of wheelchairs, as well as assistive devices and oversee wheelchair repair workshops. Health education and group therapy. Functional rehabilitation of patients including hand rehabilitation. Human resource functions of Harry Comay Hospital`s rehab component. Occupational Therapy care of patients at Thembalethu clinic.

Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the HPCSA as Occupational Therapist.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB).
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 376 524 - R 430 512 per annum, Grade 2: R 439 755 - R 501 630 per annum, Grade 3: R 514 785 - R 623 229 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
