Assistant Manager: Nursing (Speciality: Midwifery) Night Duty

Note:
Only officials employed by the Western Cape Provincial Government will be considered for this post.
 
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse. At least 6 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognisable experience in the specific speciality after obtaining the 1-year post basic qualification in the relevant speciality. At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognisable experience at nurse management level.
 
Requirements
Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: Operating Theatre or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: Child.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how these impacts on service delivery. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Ensure clinical nursing practice by the nursing team is in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the Institution. Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards. Demonstrate a basic understanding of HR and financial policies and practices. Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) The ability to function independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team and make decisions. Effective communication, interpersonal, leadership and conflict resolution skills. Knowledge and insight of current legislations and policies, relevant to current nursing practice within the public sector.

Registration with a professional council:
Proof of registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse with the proof of current registration i.e. annual licensing receipt for 2020.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
The appointed candidate will be responsible for the coordination and rendering of optimal, holistic and quality Perinatal and Neonatal Health care within standards and a professional / legal framework. Manage the utilization and supervision of all resources effectively. Coordinate the provision of training and research effectively. Provision of effective support to nursing services and hospital management. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 614 991 (PN-B4)- R 692 166 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
