Operational Manager Nursing Grade 1 (General Unit) (General Ward)

Experience:
A minimum of 7 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Ability to promote quality patient care through the setting, implementation, and monitoring of standards. Ability to function independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Effective communication, interpersonal, leadership, decision making, and conflict resolution and labour relations skills. Good organisational skills and the ability to function under pressure. Computer literacy (i.e.MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Knowledge and insight of all relevant legislation and policies within the public sector.
 
Minimum educational qualification:
Basic R425 qualifications (i.e., Degree/Diploma in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration as a Professional Nurse with the South Africa Nursing Council (SANC) as a General Nurse and Midwife.

Registration with a Professional Council:
Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife. Proof of 2025 annual registration with the SANC.
 
Note:
The pool of applicants will be considered for similar vacant posts within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services for a period of 3 months from date of advert. Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a practical / written and oral assessment.
 
Duties (Key result areas/outputs):
To facilitate and promote holistic health care and education according to individual needs of patients, family and the community. Support, guide and supervise personnel. Effective management and utilization of physical and financial resources. Initiate, co-ordinate and participate in training, development, and research within the nursing department. After- hour hospital cover for both day and night duty and deliver a support service to the Nursing Services and the institution
 
Inherent requirements of the job:
Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence. Willingness to work shifts (day and night duty), public holidays, after-hours, and weekends. Relief the Assistant Manager: Nursing when needed.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 549 192 - R 629 121 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
