A minimum of 9 years of appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in the specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: Trauma and Emergency. |

A valid driver’s licence. Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Willingness to work shifts and after hours (weekends, public holidays and night duty). |

Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with the SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science in Critical Care Nursing: Trauma and Emergency or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science in Critical Care Nursing: General. |

Knowledge of appropriate legislation, regulations and Departmental Policies. Knowledge of Hospital and Emergency Centre Triage Information System (HECTIS) and South African Triage System (Basic knowledge and experience in human resource management, labor relations, financial and supply chain procurement processes.) The ability to promote quality patient care through the setting, implementation, and monitoring of standards. Effective communication, interpretation, leadership, execute discipline, decision-making and conflict resolution skills. |

Manage and co-ordinate the implementation of holistic, comprehensive, specialised nursing care in the Trauma complex, in conjunction with team members, within a professional and legal framework. Ensure the maintenance of quality care standards in the operating trauma services. Manage, supervise, guide staff and keep records and statistics as required. Manage assets, consumables and service effectively. Manage and support education, in-service training and orientation and practice development initiatives in the area and prevent medical legal risks. Maintain professional growth and ethical standards. |

The pool of applicants will be considered for other similar posts within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services, for a period of 3 months from date of advert. Candidates will be subjected to a practical, written assessment or oral assessment. |

Remuneration:
|
R 693 036 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
