Sterilization Operator Production (CSSD) (2posts)

Experience:
Appropriate experience in a health environment.
 
Duties (Key result areas/outputs):
Collect and deliver soiled and clean linen and packs to and from theatre and wards. Effective application of sterilisation processes and techniques and promote/adhere to infection control as well as health and safety regulations. Decontaminate, pack and sterilisation of instruments, linen, and supplies. Assist with cleaning and testing of sterilisation equipment, washing machines and autoclaves. Maintain equipment in an optimum working condition. Cost effective utilisation of resources, monitor, control and maintain adequate stock levels. Report and assist with investigation of lost instruments/equipment. Support to the supervisor and team members.
 
Minimum educational qualification:
General Education and Training Certificate (GETC)/Grade 9 (Std 7).
 
Competencies (knowledge/ skills):
Good interpersonal relations skills. Ability to work in a co-operative way within a team context. Basic literacy, both verbally and in writing. Basic understanding of disinfection, decontamination and sterilisation.

Note:
No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. The pool of applicants will be considered for other vacant posts within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services, for a period of 3 months from date of advert. Candidates will be subjected to a written/practical and oral assessment.
 
Inherent requirements of the job:
Willingness to work shifts (day and night duty), including weekends and public holidays. Physically fit to lift heavy objects, push heavy trolleys, bend down, and stay on feet for long hours.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 163 680 per annum - R 192 810 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
