Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse with Psychiatry. A post-basic, nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 (one) year accredited with SANC in Advanced Psychiatry Nursing Science. |

Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements, may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration to register with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable to candidates who apply for the first time for registration in the post basic qualification in: Advanced Psychiatric Nursing Science with the South African Nursing Council. The pool of applicants will be considered for similar vacant posts within Paarl Hospital for a period of 3 months from date of advert. |

Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse. Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse. At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate recognizable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1 year post basic qualification as mentioned above. |

Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape. Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal). Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Skills to plan, organise and coordinate the service by analysing, problem solving and decision making. Leadership towards the realisation of strategic goals and objectives of the Psychiatric Department. Ability to function independantly , as well as in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure good patient care. |

Provide optimal, holistic specialized psychiatric nursing care within set standards and professional/legal framework. Effective utilization of human, financial and physical resources (equipment and consumables). Participation in appropriate personal /professional development activities: Self, students, other categories of staff. Ensure efficient and accurate documentation, statistical data collection capturing and participation in research activities. Assist with the development and the implementation of nursing quality improvement plans, policies and standard operating procedures. Display of core values of the Department of Health & Wellness in the WCH. In the execution of duties, while practising within the legislation, regulations and protocols applicable to the public service. |

Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Psychiatry. Proof of current registration with SANC. |

Willingness to work shifts, night duty, overtime, public holidays and weekends. |

Remuneration:
|
Grade 1: R 476 367 per annum; Grade 2: R 583 989 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
