Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 (Speciality: Trauma and Emergency)

Minimum educational qualification:
Basic R425 qualification (i.e. degree/diploma in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife. Post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least one year accredited with the SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science in Critical Care Nursing: Trauma and Emergency or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science in Critical Care Nursing: General.
 
Competencies (knowledge/ skills):
Extensive knowledge of practices or regimes within the relevant disciplines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. Analytical and Critical thinking abilities within an Emergency Room setting. Application of knowledge, skills and behavior to complete tasks accurately as well as maintaining high standard of care in managing care.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: A Minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registrationas a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. Grade 2: A minimum of 14 yearsappropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with theSANC in General Nursing. At least 10 years of the period referred to above must beappropriate/recognisable experience in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science in Critical CareNursing: Trauma and Emergency or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science in Critical Care Nursing: General.

Note:
No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. “Candidates who are not in possession of the required qualification will be appointed into the general stream and they will be required to obtain the necessary qualification within predetermined period of time. Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements, may also apply. Such candidates will only be conspired for appointment on condition that proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable to candidates who apply for the first time for registration in the post-basic qualification. The pool of applicants will be considered for other vacant posts within the Department for a period of 3 months from date of advert.
 
Duties (Key result areas/outputs):
Provision of optimal, holistic specialized nursing care within the professional, ethical and legalframework and work as part of the multi-disciplinary team. Effective utilization of all resources.Provide support to Nursing Services ensuring quality productivity. Maintain professionalgrowth/ethical standards and self-development. Participation in training, including mentoring and research.
 
Registration with a Professional Council:
Registration with SANC as Professional Nurse and Midwife.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 476,367 per annum, Grade 2: R 583,989 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
