Development Youth (Patient Care Assistant Internship) (6-month contract) (10 Posts)

Note:
“The pool of applications will be considered for vacancies within Metro Health Services, for a period of three months from the date of the advert, provided that the job title, core functions, inherent requirements, and salary level are the same as those of the advertised post.” Candidates will be subjected to a practical/oral assessment.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Assist patients with activities of daily living (physical care). Provide non-clinical support to Nursing Staff (act as queue marshal, patient escort, care of patients in the discharge lounge, ensure a therapeutic, clean, safe and friendly environment). Maintain professional and ethical conduct.
 
Minimum educational qualifications:
General education and training certificate (GETC)/Grade 9 (Std 7). Home base care/ancillary health certificate (AHC) (6 months accredited course).
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Good communication skills (both written and verbal). Able to work in a team. Ability to deal with conflict.

Inherent requirements of the job:
Physically fit and healthy. Able to lift heavy patients. Knowledge of basic patient care. Willingness to rotate. Willingness to work shifts including weekends, public holidays and night duty. Between the age of 18 – 35.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 57 228 per annum.

  • bring along recently (not older than 6 months) certified copies of your Identity Document (ID), driver’s license (if applicable for the post), qualification and/or proof of registration at relevant statutory body etc. Failure to adhere to the aforementioned may lead to his/her application being disqualified and not further considered.
