| “Candidates who are not in possession of the required qualifications will be appointed into the general stream, and they will be required to obtain the necessary qualifications within a predetermined period of time. “Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements, may also apply. | Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. Post-basic qualification with duration of at least 1 year in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Ophthalmological Nursing. |

| Computer literacy (MS Office). Proficiency in Opthalmic Clinical practice. Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Ability to function independently, as well as in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure good patient care. |

| Ensure that all prescribed health policies are implemented. Ensure efficient planning, control and the effective use of all resources. Liaise with all role-players within the Knysna/Bitou sub-district to ensure appropriate service delivery. Responsible for the Ophthalmic Health Services within the Sub-district (i.e. Hospital; CDC’s, clinics, mobiles and satellites). |

| Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification as mentioned above. |

Remuneration:

Grade 1: R 383 226 (PN-B1)- R 444 276 per annum, Grade 2: R 471 333 (PN-B2) -R 579 696 per annum (Plus non pensionable rural allowance of 8% of your annual basic salary) Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).

Candidates may be subjected to a competency test. No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post.
