OPERATIONAL MANAGER: NURSING (SPECIALTY: PSYCHIATRIC) (Unit: Forensic)

Requirements
A Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Advanced Psychiatric Nursing Science. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Advanced Psychiatric Nursing Science.
 
Experience:
A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate / recognizable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification as mentioned above.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Ability to communicate in 2 of the 3 official languages of the Western Cape. Demonstrate a good understanding of People Management, Financial and material policies, protocols and practices. Ensure that clinical nursing practice rendered by the nursing team and promote quality of nursing care as directed by the Professional scope of practice and standards. Knowledge of FBU functions and management. Word and excel literacy. Experience working within Psychiatric Services.
 
Registration with professional council:
Current registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Effective adherence to quality improvement strategies in the execution of quality nursing care and clinical governance. Effective management of human and financial resources. Effective training, development and research to maintain ethical standards and self-development. Provide Leadership, management, governance of nursing services. Provide managerial support to nursing services, hospital management including after hour coverage and night duty.

Note:

Inherent requirements of the job:
Willingness to work shifts (day and night), weekends and public holidays as required.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 562 800 - R 633 432 Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
